Mikel Obi Set To Play As Attacking Midfielder In New Club.

          John Mikel Obi  who recently completed a big money move to Chinese Super League club  Tianjin TEDA is set to be playing as an attacking midfielder in his new club.  Mikel who is now training hard ahead of the Chinese Super League start of new campaign.  (Picture above ---Mikel in training))

The news was announced  in a  news conference held at Tianjin TEDA's arena following a training session ahead of a friendly match with lower division club in China. In his words, Mikel says he is never a defensive midfielder, that he only took the role to help Chelsea in that, at that moment Chelsea were lacking in that area . He opined that he has no regrets playing that role at Chelsea, he emphasized that on few occasions when he played in advanced roles at Chelsea he did not perform bad and even in the National team where he often play the no 10 role.


Mike you will remember left Chelsea earlier this January to Chinese Super League as a result of not having a single playing time under new coach Antonio Conte. So far in Tianjin TEDA, Mikel has played two matches though preseasons, Mikel and his team mates were on the loosing side as they failed to defeats in both matches. The second of the two defeats, Mikel scored one of the two goals Tianjin TEDA replied with in a 6-2 defeat.

The Club fans were all excited at how good Mikel promises to be as they have watched him play in trainings and in preseasons displaying his pass accuracy abilities from close and  long ranges. In the press conference, Mikel promises to score more goals and said he feels excited playing the no 10 role for the club.
